Hello dog-loving chefs! At Gizzls, we're a HUGE fan of peanut butter! So our Peanut Butter Pumpkin Bites are not only a flavour-packed delight, but they also pack a nutritious punch that your pup will love.
We're going to skip the long-winded life story that normally precedes a recipe (you can read that here) and get straight into it ;) Let's get those paws in the kitchen and whip up a batch of these irresistible Peanut Butter Pumpkin Bites! Your doggo will thank you with every lick and wag.
Ingredients:
1 cup canned pumpkin puree (unsweetened)
2/3 cup creamy peanut butter (make sure it doesn't contain xylitol)
2 large eggs
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour (we recommend stoneground)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon organic turmeric (optional, for added health benefits)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and eggs. Mix until the ingredients are well combined and form a smooth mixture.
Gradually add the whole wheat flour, ground cinnamon, and turmeric (if using) to the wet ingredients. Stir until a thick dough forms. If the mixture is too sticky, add a little more flour.
Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the dough whatever thickness you like. Use cookie cutters to create fun shapes or simply cut into bite-sized squares using a knife.
Place the shaped treats onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a bit of space between each one.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the treats turn golden brown.
Allow the treats to cool completely on a wire rack before serving them to your drooling doggy.
Remember, these Peanut Butter Pumpkin Bites are meant to be a special treat and should not replace your dog's regular meals. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks, or freeze for longer shelf life.
Enjoy! 🐶
